The University Theatre

Columbus. Ohio

To be located in an extremely desirable location opposite Ohio State University on North High Street, this can be classified as.a campus theatre which will be easily accessible to the majority of the student body. This area is currently being served by a severely outdated theatre which is approximately 30 years old. In addition to the student body of' about 15,000, this is the heart of a residential district of about 30,000.

The design will reHect traditions of Ohio State University.

The front of the theatre will be carried out in the

University colors of scarlet and gray, with the same colors dominating the interior design. A scarlet terracotta base treatment reaches up to the underside of the marquee across the front of the building. To the left of the marquee, deep fluted gray terra cotta pilasters rise to the top of the building without cap or coping. Across the top, and again emphasizing the University colors, will be four lines of high fired red. Centered in the fluted field is the sculptured figure of

.a football player in Ohio State uniform and designed

to represent TChici9 Harley, the great All-American hero of the campus tradition.

TO THE RIGHT A lARGE NEON SIGN, WITH PROJECIING CHANNEL lETTERS, EACING BOTH DIRECTIONS AND SPELLING OUT THE NAME, AND A LARGE lETTER "0" AT THE APEX OF THE MARQUEE, COMPLETES THE EXTERIOR.
