The Wayne Theatre

Wlayne. Michigan

Designed as a deluxe annex to the present Shafer Wayne Theatre and to be built on the latter7s parking lot is this new 1500-seat project. The structure will be of cinder block and face brick, with a gypsum-slab roof to attain modern fire-proof standards.

A multi-faced rotunda type lobby permits access directly to the standee area and features a centrally located candy counter and a dumb-waiter to the booth for all film deliveries. Stairs from the standee area serve the menis, ladiesi, cry, projection, and manageris oiiice rooms, all of which are located on

the second floor. A stage 20 feet deep, with a proscenium opening of 49 feet, will permit any flesh presentations which are deemed necessary.

. Sturdy, modern construction and the basic simplicity of the functional plan are the outstanding characteristics and it is felt that this theatre is typical of many of the fine, permanent structures that are now under construction.

In both the stage and projection-room areas, generous space has been provided to accommodate television equipment should the latter eventuate.

EACH RECESS IN THE SIMPLE, MUl'l'I-PLANED FACIA WILL BE INDIVIDUALLY FLOODLIGHTED FROM BELOW IN ORDER TO PRODUCE THE DESIRED EFFECT OF FLUTED MASSIVENESS AGAINST THE DARK SKIES OF NIGHT.
