A 640-Seat Cinema ls Built in the Saint Laurent Section of Montreal

The Normandie Theatre

The Normandie Theatre, in the Saint Laurent section of Montreal, Quebec, , was designed for the United Amusement , w, 3 j, . Corporation, Ltd., by the firm of Luke, a Little, and Mace, to serve the entertainment interests of an estimated 5,000 middle - class French - Canadians. The 640-seat theatre, constructed of concrete block, faced with brick and Vitrolite, cost about $71,400 (including air conditioning). with another $18,900 for equipment.

The front is trimmed in cadet blue and suntan Vitrolite, with the auditorium portion faced with gray cement brick. The lobby is entirely enclosed in glass, with the box ofiice centered in the area. The lobby is lined with knotty , V A H pine, with a dark red plaster ceiling. L I, m my; a; m, uprmu

The auditorium walls and ceiling are L W t '- 1 T 0" W303!ka finished in natural color Celotex, the ' i plaster work at the stage end done in pale blue and salmon with silver decoration.

The men's and ladies' rooms are located in the one-story portion of the building at the extreme right, with the separate entrances separated by the stairs leading to the projection room. The standee space at the rear of the seating area serves in lieu of lounge.
