AN EXAMPLE OF THE INSTALLATION of selfcontained "package" air-conditioning units is shown in these pictures. From the size at the auditorium-and the locale of the theatreetour units were deemed required tor satistactory airconditioning: two units at the front of the auditorium and two units in the rear. The usual placement of the units would have set one on either side of the screen, and actually such was done in this instance, even though the units are not apparent (top picture). Since this theatee antedates the sound-pictures era, an organ had been installed in the early days, and the masked organ pipes still installed. So the engineers decided to take advantage of the natural masking available. and they proceeded to remove the old orqan pipes and to install the forward units behind the ornamental grilles. By using the proper type of reflectors and battles on the units' the grilles made no difference in the diftusion of the conditioned air. At the rear 01 the theatre (bottom picture) the two units are right out in the open, and, being ot trim line and attractive appearance, they become a pleasing addition to the standee area, as well as being their own best advertisements tor the "extra added" comtort provided by the theatre's management. The middle picture shows a closeup view ot one unit at the rear at the theatre.
