The Niles Outdoor

Niles, Michigan

Exhaustive research and study as well as accepted features developed in recent months of successful drive-in operation went into the construction of The Niles Outdoor, Niles, Michigan.

Included in the list of innovations to enhance the pleasure, comfort, and convenience of the patrons, is a completely equipped playground area directly in front of the tower screen. Other installations for patron comfort are a series of light baffles that protect the screen from headlights of departing cars; a macadamized surface of 70,000 square yards; ramp lights for illuminating aisle and space numbers; and a clearly marked pedestrian path leading from the center of the auditorium to the handsome-tiled concession building.

The theatre consists of an administra

tion-screen tower structure; a concession area; two boxomces with handsome canopy; a sign tower; and utility building. The boxofi'ice edifice combines both utility and decorative features with a radical departure from the conventional design.

The approach to the ticket office and the drive leading into the auditorium itself provides pre-parking space, eight lanes wide, for 600 cars.

The sign tower features the name NILES in flashing incandescents with a ruby red neon halo border. A flashing entrance arrow and attraction board complete this well designed feature.

The drawing power of the concessions building is further augmented by means of large windows for patrons to watch the movie.
