pay for itself by burning down each positive carbon to less than one inch of waste.

The special automatic arrangement changes to a new pre-heated carbon, once the stump has burned to an adjusted maximum, and continues to burn without any disruption or loss of light. Any uncertainty as to the duration of the burning period for any size of carbon stump is thereby eliminated.

Essentially, the function of the device is to replace the current positive carbon jaw with a new and more accurate type. Its precise construction and the special rest designed for it enable the removal of the present positive carbon-rest in a lamphouse. The elimination of this fixed obstruction in front of the reflector permits a full distribution of light directly into the aperture plate.

The automatic operation of the unit is claimed to be extremely simple with no parts to wear out or burn out. Any projectionist can install it easily in a matter of minutes.

Evoporafive Cooling DiEuser

Said to be designed for use with evaporative coolers to provide a positive means of compensating for cool and moderate iiin between" dry conditions and to prevent discomfort usually caused by on or off blower operation, a new evaporative cooling diffuser has recently been placed on the market by the United States Air Conditioning Corporation.

The unit is reported to be a deflectogrille with vertical and horizontal blades individually adjustable that raise the air discharge stream above the room occupants and reduce their body heat loss to the air. This feature eliminates the chilly feeling associated with the, high air circulation of evaporative coolers on mild (lays that are neither warm nor chilly. Since shutting ofl a cooler entirely permits internal heat to build up, the diil'user allows the blowers to run without causing discomfort.

Window Fun

A new window fan, which might find use in theatre ticket booths, ofiices, and washrooms, etc., was recently placed on the market by Fresh'nd Aire Company.

The unit combines a standard fan with a special universal window bracket which can be adjusted to fit any standard window. The fan is attached to the bracket by a retention spring, and can be directed to blow air out or in as desired.

The fan can also be removed entirely from the bracket and used for spot cooling purposes anywhere. It is of lightweight plastic construction and is equipped with a carrying handle.

Low-Cost Carpet Cleaner

A new type of carpet cleaner, trademarked ttGlamorene," has been tested in theatres with outstanding results. Manufactured by Jerclaydon, Inc., the product is not a liquid, foam, a jelly or powder, but a semi-moist compound that is reddish in color and has the consistency of snow.

According to the manufacturer, the chemically treated product attacks and emulsifies all of the carpet soils and carries them out of and off the carpet. It is claimed that even insol'ubles, such as sand and grit, are loosened and freed from the carpet pile to make them easily removable by vacuum.

The method of using tiGlamorene" is so simple that any maintenance man can be shown how to apply it in few minutes with no special equipment required. The cleaner is sprinkled on the carpet, brushed in easily with either a longhandled deck scrub brush or a regular electrical rotary scrubbing or waxing

machine, permitted to dry for a reason able period of time, and then vacuumed off.

It is claimed that the new cleaner is also an excellent chewing gum remover and acts without tearing or harming the carpet in any way whatsoever. The chemicals in a small handful of ttGlamorene" are squeezed out upon the gum until it is saturated. The compound is then placed over the saturated gum as a small pad or poultice. In a few minutes the gum may be lifted right off the carpet without a trace left.

Spot Removal Kit

A handy spot removal kit, recently introduCed by Multi-Clean Products, Inc., is said to enable the carpet cleaner to "cure" spot trouble in rugs, carpets, and upholstery with the ease and skill of an expert.
