1. Specify certified Grade-A malleable frame fittings of the clamp type, tested to 50,000 pounds tensile strength, guaranteed against breakage; for such fittings greatly simplify the work of installation, will deliver perfect, repair-free performance for many years, assure maximum strength and safety in the equipment.

2. Avoid threaded fittings, grey iron fittings or those which necessitate drilling the top beams of swing or combination unit frames; for all of these fittings reduce the strength of the equipment, multiply maintenance and repair costs, reduce the safety factors so essential in apparatus for drive-in play areas.

3. Also avoid makeshift, unsightly welded joints or fittings, for welding in many ways complicates the work of installation, makes repair or replacement doubly difiicult, increases the freight rate on pipe members which normally, where malleable fittings of the clamptype are employed, take the lower "pipe" rate; besides, welding destroys the pros tective zinc coating, exposing the welded surface to rapid deterioration by rusting.

4. Specify hot-dip galvanizing for all pipe and metal parts, and avoid metallizing or zinc spraying; for hot-dip galvanizing alloys with the steel a much heavier, much more uniform and much smoother coating of zinc,

5. In all hardwoods, insist upon carefully seasoned, the equivalent of a year or more airedried FAS oak, maple or birch, entirely free from knots, season
