ELMIRA Elmira, N. Y.

Originally constructed during the period when large movie palaces were cluttered with excessive amounts of interior and exterior ornamentation, the Elmira emerged from a quarter of a million dollar remodeling job as streamlined and modern as a jet.

Generous amounts of granite, glass, stainless steel and aluminum were used to completely change the design and theatre atmosphere.

Flesh tint mirrors and striking terrazzo floors dominate the spacious lobby, and there is an attractive mural over the area leading to the mezzanine stairway.

The auditorium, which holds 2500, was remodeled from the standee rail to the stage. The new equipment includes an installation of the Miracle Mirror CinemaScope screen.
