characteristics. It is well known, of course, that Technicolor film withstands a higher temperature without film damage.

At 95 amperes there is every possibility that excessive heat will occur at the aperture, particularly with black and white film.

At currents at from 118 to 128, there is almost certain damage to the film unless proper precautions are taken.

Air Cooled Heat- Deflector

To eliminate film buckling in the higher ranges, it is suggested that when the Super Power Lamp is used it should

Ashcraft Air Cooled Heat Defiector which eliminates approximately 30 per cent of the heat projected to the film with only approximately five or six per cent loss in visible light.

The air cooled heat defiector casting is mounted directly on the front of the lamphouse and held in position by five screws. The dichroic glass filter is mounted resiliently in the removable door on the side of the blower casting. The surface of the filters should not be cleaned with water but can be kept in good condition by means of wiping with surgical cotton.

In the diagram, figure 1 shows the path of the light at A-B. The refiected heat is shown at C and air blast at E. It is important that nothing obstruct the how of the air over the filter in order to accomplish maximum cooling.

PEERLESS HY CANDESCENT

The Peerless Hy-Candescent Lamp is a heavy duty arc designed to be used where large amounts of screen illumination are needed, such as on screens in drive-ins and large indoor palaces. The following is important information about installation, care, and treatment of this lamp.

Burner Alignment Principle

After temporarily fastening the lamphouse to the pedestaly the burner assems bly should be put in place. As the burner is independently adjustable, both laterally and vertically within the lamphouse, there is provided a marker at the front and rear end of the lamphouse base when aligned with the markers on the burner base, will indicate when the burner is in the center of the optical axis of the lamphouse.

It does not necessarily follow, however, that with the alignment of these markers, that the axis of the burner will be in optical alignment with the optical axis of the projector mechanism, and it may be necessary to adjust the
